To make Peckham less polluted and green

Pollution levels are increasing daily in city's due to climate change and they won't decrease unless we do something about it. Trees are great for capturing carbon so putting more of them around the city will help but without decreasing the amount of carbon emission being produced the pollution level won't decrease. By limiting the number of cars on the streets and offering a more sustainable option to travel around in this will help lower the pollution levels in the city.

Rye Lane new road layout
Adding more trees along Rye Lane and make it a car-free zone. Allowing no cars on Rye Lane will make more space for trees and bike lanes. Encouraging people to cycle will help reduce the number of cars on the road. I will have a bus journey looping around the residential building to transport people into the center and will still be allowed to go along Rye Lane.
Community Gardens
Adding greenery is my main aim but I also would like to use some of the green areas to grow our own fruit and vegetable. This will also help with adding greenery but also help bring the community together to grow and share this experience. It helps to teach children how to grow their own food and where it comes from. It all will reduce our emission rates by not having to transport food as much from other countries.

Green
An idea is to add more greener buildings around the area, these building could be residential ones to help with the population increase in the coming years. A green shopping centre to replace the current one and some public areas like parks and green spaces for people to hang out in and enjoy some nature.
