Peckhams coal line. Future property plans for Peckham

The Peckham Coal line urban park

The coal line is a community-led project that aims to help connected Peckham Rye and Queens Road Peckham. There is only 900 meters between the two of them but are disconnected by busy roads. The coal line would be a short linear path that creates a connection between the two high streets.

They want to create a walkway and a cycle lane between  Rye Lane and Queen street. It would be the last point so that there is a connecting lane from Clapham common all the way to the Thames near the canary wharf. This would mean there is a long stretch where people can travel into the centre of London safely and not having to be on the road.

Peckham Vision

Peckham Vision is a community-led association in Peckham, they work together to help make Peckham a better place. They believe that their contribution will help enhance the wellbeing of Peckham, and help it to thrive in the future. They stand for two fundamental factor

- Nurture ways to connect people together: The residence in Peckham shares the enthusiasm to help develop the potential of Peckham.

-Promate and encourage citizen action: To help Peckham's town centre become and resilient place and links together past building with future builds.

Future property plans

Southmark council wants to build 139 lower-cost and council homes around Peckham library square as part of a £42.5 million scheme There plan is to build these houses behind Peckham high street and in Peckham library square.

This is a project that was got made to be thought about by Peckhams residents campaigning. The original plan was to remove the arches where the tradition entrance was. This was thought again by the residence of Peckham and now those arches are going to be turned into a gallery, co-working spaces and new shops. This will help to benefit the community
